To do so, you must understand the various key data points, in order to leverage the scanner to increase your potential profits.

Here are just some of the key data points you must know when creating your trading plans:

Short interest % - The percentage of outstanding shares that are currently being held short, by retail investors, institutions or funds. Stocks with high short interest, could potentially leade to a short squeeze (past examples: GME, CVNA).
Float - Float refers to the number of shares that are publicly available in the open market to be traded — not those held by insiders and controlling investors. Stocks with a low float, especially below 5 million, are likely to be very volatile and make huge percentage moves.
Relative Volume (14RVOL) - A volume indicator that measures the current volume traded, compared to a specified period (14 days). Momentum traders tend to look for stocks with at least 2 RVOL.
Insider % - Insider ownership refers to the percentage of stock held by officers, directors, or 10% shareholders of a company that has inside information into the company.
Institutional Ownership % (IO)- Institutional ownership refers to stock that is held by investment firms, funds, and other large entities rather than individual, retail investors.
